What is a clinical study?

A clinical research study or clinical trials is the medical testing of the safety and effectiveness of a new treatment, drug or medical device. New treatments that prove to be safe and effective in treating heart disease, may be approved by the FDA for widespread use.

Why are clinical trials important?

Cardiovascular disease remains the most common cause of death and disability for men and women in the United States. Through clinical research trials we are able to:

  • Develop new treatments that are safer and more effective than drugs already available for medical conditions
  • Develop new, safe and effective treatments for medical conditions that currently have no treatment
  • Enable scientists to discover new use for drugs already on the market

What types of studies are at MHS?

Mobile Heart Specialists, P.C. has offered our patients a variety of clinical trials in the areas of:

  • Heart Failure
  • Chest Pain
  • High Cholesterol
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Irregular Heart Beat
  • Primary and Secondary Prevention of Heart Diseases

Would I qualify for a clinical trial?

Participation in a clinical research trial is completely voluntary. Each sponsor sets criteria that a patient must meet prior to enrollment. We, at MHS, will be glad to talk with you about the possibility of your taking part in a clinical trial. Participants are allowed an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to cardiology research.
