National Stroke Awareness Month: Strokes and the Heart

This is the third and final blog in a three-part series about strokes.

Today, we are going to talk about how strokes affect your heart. While many associate strokes with neurological and physical problems, having a stroke also increases your odds of experiencing a variety of complications with the heart.

Strokes and Heart Health

People who have had a stroke might develop one or more heart problems including heart attacks, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias and ventricular fibrillation. These issues could be caused by or associated with the stroke(s) or caused by the same underlying issues that produced the stroke. It’s also common for heart disease to result in a stroke. So, as you can see, heart health and stroke prevention go hand-in-hand. You can learn more about the effects of strokes on cardiovascular health by consulting one of our physicians at Mobile Heart Specialists
